MAXVISION WINS BEST IN SHOW, MOST INNOVATIVE SERVER SOLUTION AWARD AT INTEL® SOLUTIONS SUMMIT

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Intel® honored MaxVision, a manufacturer of extreme portable and transportable server/workstations, with the Best in Show, Most Innovative Server Solution Award for the company’s triple-screen MaxPac8230XRA3. The workstation runs a pair of Dual Core Xeon 5130 processors, 4GB of FB-DIMM memory, 3ware’s 4-channel 9550SX-4LP SATA II RAID controller, a PNY Quadro FX 3500 display adapter, and three 20.1" LCD displays, all housed in MaxVision’s“box-in-box” shock isolation system.

“MaxVision is honored to receive the RAM Best In Show: Most Innovative Server Solution award for the MaxPacXRA3,” said MaxVision’s president, Bruce Imsand. “The MaxPac8230XRA3 is the new platform of choice for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The NGA has deployed hundreds of these extreme-performance, transportable workstations around the world. As a key component of military intelligence, the MaxPacXRA3 allows our troops to leverage state-of-the-art technology in the field and to exploit satellite imagery through dozens of resource-hungry applications.”

Many of MaxVisions workstations end up in battle theaters, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq as of late. The systems’ harsh circumstances can be seen when units return to MaxVision for maintenance. Dust, dirt, and sand are ground into practically every surface. As Imsand notes, “They don’t win any beauty contests when they come back.” However, extensive customization, including an oil-impregnated filtration system, end-to-end ruggedization, and certified tolerance for extended runtime under 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), keep the MaxPac workstation cool under fire.

“Reliable, high-performance technology is important for businesses to succeed,” said Intel's Nick Davison, director of North American channel distribution sales and marketing. “MaxVision's adaptation of Intel's multi-core server/workstation platform is ingenious. This is exactly the kind of customization that will help the channel to thrive, especially in vertical arenas.”

MaxVision is an Intel® Channel Partner Premier Member and was honored at the 2007 Intel® Solutions Summit, held March 18-20 at The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
