Notebooks are proprietary fixed designs and do not provide core technology upgrades and therefore have limited useful technology life of less than 3 years. They do provide battery operation in a smaller lighter package but compromise performance, limit expandability, and reduce the size keyboard and display. They never accommodate PCI slots or the highest speed video technology. Few if any power users are satisfied with a notebook and use their notebook only away from the home or office for email and office automation.
