MaxCube™
The MaxVision MaxCube™ is a new paradigm in compact transportable computing. In the volume of 1 cubic foot, the following features are provided:
- Two Xeon5100/5300 processors providing up to 8 64-bit Xeon processors
- Eight removable 3.5" SATA hard disks, configured in a variety of quick eject magazines. Supports high performance RAID 0, 1, 5 & 6. Supports 320GB, 750GB and 1TB hard disks.
- Supports the following input power:
- 90 - 264VAC@ 50-400Hz
- 90-380VDC
- 28VDC (with Optional UPS)
- Provides an option for integrated UPS, assuring continuous operation at full load for up to 15 minutes.
- Operates over the full range of 0-50°C
- Full "Baghdad Filter" eliminates nearly all small particle dust in heavy load environments with nearly no back pressure. Filters all components, even the optical disk
- Two redundant removable 2.5" SATA system disks configurable as a mirror RAID 1.
- Option of either DVD double layer burner (8.5GB) or BlueRay (50GB) optical drive. Each is interchangeable and removable without tools.
- Two PCIe Slots with 16x connectors, used for video and RAID controller
- Two PCI-X Slots 100/133MHz
- Two PCI 32 bit slots
- Two GbE network connections

No other server/workstation has the density, processing performance, tolerance to dust and heat, and the rich set of standard features integrated into the MaxCube.
Designed for service, the MaxCube can be accessed and serviced with minimal or no tools.
MaxVision’s HDPac removable hard drive magazines are available in 8, 4 and 2 drive configurations. The 2 and 4 drive configurations can be mixed and matched in the removable drive backplane. This allows for one 8 drive HDPac magazine, two 4 drive HDPac magazines, four 2 drive HDPac magazines or a mix of two 2 drive and one 4 drive magazines, allowing the maximum flexibility in managing the customer’s high performance, high capacity RAID storage requirements. The 3Ware 9650 series of RAID controllers provides the highest performance, maximum flexibility SATA RAID processing available.
The entire unit can fit into a single Pelican 0340 cube roller case that can be pulled effortlessly and shipped as checked luggage or sent via express courier such as FEDEX.
Suitable for both military and commercial use, the applications vary from military servers, network attached storage, and workstations with detached displays. Commercial applications include Digital Disk Recorders for HD video and cinematography applications and simulations.
The MaxCube’s small size and flexible power with internal UPS makes it an ideal platform for massive parallel computing applications. Because the volume and size is so small, 9 MaxCubes can be stacked into little more than 1 meter of desk top and take as little as 1/3 of a cubic meter of volume. Maximum weight per cube is 45 pounds and easily managed by one person.
